The Journey
Due to the fact the main part of our movie will be the little girls journey to the chocolate shop, I researched how other short film portrayed a long journey in a short space of time.
The most helpful video I found was a short film called 'The Journey'.
The first way in which the film passes time is by speeding up the footage
This could possibly work in our film, as it is an easy editing technique and part of our set task? is to include titles. This helps distract the audience from the fact that they are just travelling on bus by giving them something else to focus on.
'The journey' mainly includes close up shots of the character feet.
By using close ups in our film, it could help to emphasize the age of the little girl and her size in comparison to the big city she is travellling to.
In this short film the editor had included a lot of focus pulls in order to show what the character is walking past. This lengthens the journey in a shorter space of time as the audiences focus will be more on the objects and the setting than the character feet
This is an easy effect to achieve with the more high tech cameras we are using this year. As she is only a small child we could have a focus pull on a large object to her looking very young and innocent.
In order to represent that the journey had come to an end, the short film pans out from characters feet to the to his whole body.
We would include a shot of the chocolate shop in our film in order to show the audience that the young girls journey is over.
