Radio Trailer Music

Radio Trailer Music

Intense music

(dark lords)

This music is used to represent the dark, intense beginning part of our film. The continual criminal acts and the dangerous, harmful behaviour carried out by our main character is reflected in this music. It also creates a build up to the ending part of the trailer where the music takes a twist into a soft, peaceful tone.

police sirens

We decided to use this sound as it appropriately suggests the crime genre of the film. It breaks away from the intense music from the trailer and fits in with the extracts of the film such as the shout of "CALL THE POLICE!". We have chosen this particular sound as it contains numerous sirens, suggesting that the crimes int he film attract a lot of police attention, and therefore makes the criminal behaviour appear more intense and dangerous.

Ending/ Title Music

(grand entrude)

This piece of music is used in our radio trailer as a feature to the title. This type of music is used because of the sweet, loving twist of the film concerning the love between the two sisters.
It is also used to break apart from the intense music and sounds throughout the beginning of the trailer.
The music is an additional feature that is used to replace the structure and formate of the title. Instead of designing the title to be in a light, happy and soft format, the music presents the imagery that we hope to present the title as being.

Rosie Short Film

Editing
There are several elements to this film that we could replicate when editing. The use of transitions to show passage of time is highly effective. We could also use fades to represent the loss of 'Hope' as time progresses in our own film. The different shots showing different events being linked together is something we could incorporate when showing the different crimes Destiny commits.

Mise En Scene

The use of setting and location is an effective way to translate to the audience of happy memories. They have used the seaside often associated with the connotations of happy childhood memories. Showing the two sisters in this location would show our audience the strong bond between them. However this may not be logistically viable for us when filming and so we could show places of happy times for the sisters such as a park to give the audience a similar sense of the past and memories.

The use of high key and low key lighting in this film is something we could consider. When we see the character alone, separated from her sister the lighting is low key and when they are together it is high key. This connotes the happiness and sadness when they are together and apart. We could also incorporate this feature to show the audience the moral issues of Destiny committing crimes but her happiness when she sees her terminally ill sister.

Sound
In the film Rosie, an iconic soundtrack that is repetitive has been used. This is an effective method due to the nature and plot line of the film as it builds a sense of loss and atmosphere. In our film we would have to use several different soundtracks to contrast the tension of Destiny committing crimes and the heartbreak she suffers when her sister dies.

Shots and Angles
One particular shot of a close up of the two sisters holding hands creates an instant understanding for the audience of the strong bond the sisters share. This allows the audience to see the connection of family and sister, something we also aim to achieve. In the hospital scene where we see Destiny's reaction to Hope's unfortunate death we could also use a lose up to show the audience the character's emotional pain.

Music Difficulties

During the editing process of our film we have found it challenging to find music that is appropriate for the film. It must be royalty free which makes it trickier to find.

The link above is a royalty free music website that has provided our group with a suitable background theme for our initial opening sequence. We will continue to use this website and others to find music that in keeping with the film.
