Radio Trailer Research

Radio Trailer Research

Radio trailers are a very effective way of advertising, as the audience can get a sense of the films genre and content, but it creates mystery around the film as they cannot see the characters. This could make the listener create an image of what they expect the film and characters will be like and so are desperate to watch the film to see if this is true.

The trailers opens with a slow, almost eerie ambient sound to show that it is a dark drama. Despite the fact that our films have very content, they are of the same genre and so we could take this style of music to use in our trailer, as this needs to be very obvious over the radio.

They include a voice over, to an extent, to big up the film. By saying things such as "worldwide phenomenon" makes the film seem better and long awaited, therefore creating anticipation for the listener who is now more likely to watch the film than before.

By directly addressing the reader that "Mr. Grey will see you now", makes the advert very personal. Considering the films content, it is obviously aimed at women and this character is who they will all be watching the film for. The fact that they cannot see who plays him makes the trailer very tense and excited for the target audience.

The only other dialogue from the radio trailer is:
Mr Grey: "I'm incapable of leaving you alone"
Anastasia: "Then don't..."
This opens up many questions as to what will happen if she lets Mr Grey into her life.

Around half way through the advert, the music symbolically changes to a heavy based, very modern sound, as it represents the vast change on her life.
The fact that the music sounds like a lot of recent sound links to the context, as the relationship between the two characters is something which has only become accepted in more modern society, as sex wasn't commonly a topic used in films, as it was too explicit for the society of the 20th century.

Film Poster Insperation

These posters have given us some inspiration for our own film poster. The use of images present terminal illness is something we could replicate.

Filming Day

Today we continued to film the scenes on location for the theft scene. Due to weather conditions this was more difficult than expected.
